The things we've learned
I'm quoting a newsletter again. I can't help it. I'm a child of the zeitgeist and newsletters are hot right now.
In Snoozeletter, Leah Ginnivan writes: "As we get older, we learn how much can be lost, and this awareness often leads to anxiety that if unaddressed will sours the days and relationships we do have."
For all the growth people talk about, don't you sometimes wish you knew less than you did now? Wouldn't it be nice to not know just how cruel and complicated life can be? Wouldn't it be nice to have faced fewer impossible choices?
I hope that today you're able to enjoy what you have that will one day be worth mourning. At least for a few flickering moments of joy.
PS. Whenever I'm staying in a house with a bird feeder I am struck by just how lovely they are to have. It's so nice to have some flash of color to catch my eye that isn't a televison set. If you have a yard, I highly recommend getting a bird feeder.
