Sometimes there are easy answers
A few months back, I was feeling pretty overwhelmed. I was getting at least 100 emails a day. Trying to keep up with our online magazine, social media accounts, support groups, and all the other little things was getting to be too much.
Publishing something new every day was tough. And in order to fill the schedule, sometimes I was accepting pieces by "thought leaders" that felt like they were pitching a product, rather than talking about their caregiving experience.
And then I realized, I'm the one who decided to publish something every day. Which meant I'm the one who could decide to stop doing it. So I did.
So, when you check out our magazine, you'll see that we're not publishing things as often, but we're publishing better pieces.
That's not the only thing that's changed. Adrienne wanted to have a magazine to give us a voice to talk about the caregiving experience, in all of its diversity, including the full range of highs and lows.
Nowadays there are a whole bunch of incredible pieces being published about caregiving, even though they rarely actually use the word. Which makes it un-googleable. I've always shared these on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, but the algorithm makes that less effective these days.
Now I'm including the best pieces about caregiving directly on our site.
All of the pieces on our site are searchable by all sorts of keywords, including condition. You can find pieces based on generation, your relationship to the care recipient, the type of care you're providing, and topic from links right on our homepage.
PS. Want to share your caregiving experience? Reply back to this and you can submit your piece for publication on our site. Here are our author guidelines.
