👉 When did you know you were a caregiver? 🙋
Hi ,
"Caregiver" is a pretty vague term. For many of us, it's hard to put your finger on when you cross over and become one. Others can point to the exact moment it happened -- usually involving a middle of the night phone call or a trip to the ER.
Our community has a wide range of feelings on what it means to be a caregiver and whether or not the label fits.
Bob's whole life set him up to become a caregiver.
Donna can remember when she crossed from being a new mother to a caregiver for life.
For those who became caregivers at a very young age, caregiving becomes part of our identity as we're discovering who we are.
The language issue is just as tricky for professional caregivers.
When did you become a caregiver? Did it happen in an instant or slowly over weeks or years?
Do you feel like the term "caregiver" is a good fit for you? Is there something else you'd prefer? What do you think of when you think of a caregiver?
