Greetings ,
Earlier this week I had the thought about the terms Caregiving and the older Caretaker. That older term has now mostly come to mean working as a groundskeeper or someone who guards an estate, though at one point the terms were synonyms. This observation has kept me focused on the nuance in the way we speak about our role in society today.
In our weekly review, we highlight that nuance with posts from the electronic frontiers. We want the Caregiver Space to be an online resource and an information destination for caregivers everywhere. This is the way we 'give care.'
Our work in caring for caregivers is done because we have walked in your shoes... we have made the journey and know its difficulties and its rewards. We strive to build this community, and mutually support each other's work.
Scroll down and start clicking to get us in your groove. Following links from our blog, our Instagram stream and our Facebook posts is as easy as scroll and click. But don't be shy; you can join the chorus using the monthly writer's prompt, or any of our Forums, especially This Page Listens".

After each update and edit, save the email as a draft... get back to it when you have more free time, when you're ready to post, paste it back onto the forum's reply section and hit SUBMIT!. )
For the Caregiver Space, every blog post, every electronic nudge is a renewed invitation for you to get some care for yourself. You're a member of the larger community of caregivers, and that circle should lift us all up.. Scroll down on this email and click away. The links and previews of selected posts fall just after this intro.

Canadians support assistance for family caregivers
According to a survey of more than 4,000 Canadians and published in a new report by the Conference Board of Canada, "Feeling At Home: A Survey of Canadians on Senior Care,"
Canadians are calling for governments to provide financial support for caregivers who have to reduce their work hours or leave the workforce.

California’s End of Life Option Act creates a long list of administrative hurdles that both patients and their doctors must clear. But starting June 9, terminally ill Californians with six months or less to live are able to request a doctor’s prescription for medications intended to end their lives peacefully.
