Greetings ,
A working definition of insanity: trying the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. It suggests that the path to a sane existence is always trying new things.
Here at The Caregiver Space trying new media messages is one thing we do well. Articles, media posts & information are the foundation of our work for you. If you only have a moment to spare, we hope to fill it with meaning and inspiration.
Yet another necessary change agent, is your feedback. It's new information that will help to guide us.. acknowledging that only you can tell us what you need..
So first in our line up below is a link to The Page Listens forum.. where we have posted a simple survey to get you talking to us... telling us what you need and how you need it. Prefer to take your time with more thoughtful answers?? Paste the questions into your email composer and get back to it when you have some free(-er) time.
Posting these emails on Tuesday is new too... but designed to ring like a reminder alarm... Tune in to the one and only online radio broadcast this and every Tuesday afternoon. Dave Nassany, "The Caregivers' Caregiver" has added our very own Adrienne Gruberg, to his weekly radio/audio broadcast as cp-host. It's happening each week at 4pm EST (3pm CST, 1pm PST).
For the hands on, keyboard enabled connection, it's the nighttime chat with Bob Harrison,, hosts the Spousal Care Chats every Tuesday evening, 10pm EST (9pm CST, 7pm PST). Remember, we'll leave the chat history live through the weekend for folks who can't "tune in" at the appointed hour. You can read through the discussion and share the sentiments and sharing whenever you have time in the week.
We;re looking for new ways to help share y/our hopes and dreams, struggles and solutions. We want to re-value what each of us can contribute in support of each other.
So Scroll down and click away. The links and previews of selected posts fall just after this intro. As ever we trail off with a post from our friends at The Mighty.
In the spirit of caregiving,,

Do You Speak Health Insurance? It’s Not Easy.
Solicit opinions about health insurance and you’re almost guaranteed to find consensus: It’s mystifying and irritating.
But even people trying to pick from their employers’ options can find the process complicated and difficult to understand. The jargon can be overwhelming, and it can lead people to make to costly mistakes or avoid care all together.

Caregiving is stressful. I’ve been a caregiver for more than 18 years and, as time passed, became more aware of stress. My husband (the caregiving recipient) thinks some of my stress is self-induced, but I don’t agree with him. From my perspective, stress is built into the caregiving role. What are some causes of caregiver stress?

Proposed Bill Would Give Tax Credit to Family Caregivers of People With Disabilities
A bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives this week would give qualifying families caring for a loved one with a disability a tax credit to cover caregiving expenses.
Its called Credit for Caring, and would cover 30 percent of caregiving expenses — with a $3,000 maximum over the course of a year. The tax credit would offset expenses for everything from groceries to home modifications, according to Disability Scoop.
