Losing yourself to caregiving?
Hi ,
As caregivers, it's easy to spend so much time taking care of other people that we forget about ourselves. Adrienne explores identity and helps us get away from the stress through journaling.
Last week Bob talked about how chaotic caregiving can be. This week he shares how he coped with unanswered questions, grief, and losing his sense of purpose. So many caregivers express feeling unmoored after their caregiving responsibilities end, especially after months or years of constant devotion.
We track everything about the people we care for, but what about us? I'm big on numbers, so I shared how I adjusted the quantified life movement and some lessons from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for caregivers.
Our Facebook page is really active, but are you doing enough to protect your privacy? I provide some tips on how to know what's public and what's private and Jonah discusses what it means to be a safe space and why we chose to re-launch our forums rather than keep everything on Facebook.
Family caregivers, do you feel like you're forced to choose between work and caregiving? You're not alone. Here's something to share with your friends in HR. Employee retention is a big way to save money and increase productivity.
We have even more chats on the calendar, so be sure to take a peek at the schedule and join us. Of course, you can simply join the public chatroom any time to see who's online.
We have a couple interns starting this week, so Jonah and I are excited have more people moderating the forum and keeping an eye on the Facebook page. Our community has grown so much we've been having a hard time keeping up. It's a problem we're happy to have.
While Jonah gets them settled in at our Caregiver HQ in New York, I'm up in Toronto setting up our first Canadian outpost. If you're in Canada, you can catch Rick on CTV this Thursday. You can look forward to more of a global focus as we expand our community.
Have a great weekend,

It's a great way to stay in touch, but are you accidentally sharing too much? And what's the difference between a page, a group, and a profile, anyway?
